Tom Middleton is a multi-award winning sound and sensory designer and pioneer of audio therapeutics - audio-analgesics for managing pain, audio-hypnotics to aid sleep and relaxation, audio-anxiolytics for reducing anxiety, and audio-nootropics to boost cognitive performance.

He is co-founder of electronic Ambient music duo Global Communication and Jedi Knights alongside Mark Pritchard, and then solo as Cosmos.

With over 30 years in the industry he is a trained Orchestral ‘Cellist, Pianist and Designer, international DJ and known for discovering and being tutored by The Aphex Twin as well as bringing the talents of Matthew Herbert, Ulrich Schnauss and Jon Hopkins to a wider audience.


Tom is also co-Founder of White Mirror - a London based wellness innovation consultancy and sensory design studio, and Lisbon based neuroscience research and validation lab. White Mirror creates apps, functional content, intentional experiences and immersive installations spanning multiple industries where salutogenic (health-promoting) outcomes are at the forefront of the sensory experience.

Currently helping millions to sleep better, relax, focus and mitigate anxiety with soundscapes for Calm, innovative Spatial Audio experiences for Apple Music and a masterclass for Sleep Cycle. He is an advisor for Moonai, the leading audio-analgesic app for menstrual health, a sensory science researcher, sleep expert and Mental Health Ambassador.

As an archeoacoustics explorer he has even conducted resonance experiments within the Kings Chamber in the Great Pyramid in Egypt. He continues to research the impact of music and acoustics as an MSc candidate on a Neuroscience of Music program.
