HEAD OF AI R&D | ABLETON

Lillia Betz is the Head of AI R&D at Ableton, where she leads a research initiative to explore how AI can enhance musical creativity in meaningful and ethical ways.

Originally from Paris, France, Lillia’s musical journey began with classical piano and composition studies at the Conservatory. Her passion for blending traditional music with technology led her to Berklee College of Music, where she earned a degree in Electronic Production and Design.

After graduation, Lillia freelanced as a film composer and mixing/mastering engineer in Los Angeles before joining Ableton eight years ago. Starting in Tech Support, she quickly advanced to the Packs team in Berlin as a Max for Live Content Specialist.

Recognizing the potential of Max for Live, Lillia established a dedicated team to improve integration in Ableton Live. Over the course of five years as Head of Max for Live, she led the Max for Live team to vastly improve the software quality and to offer groundbreaking features.

Now, as the leader of Ableton’s AI R&D, Lillia continues to drive innovation, focusing on the positive impact AI can have on artists, their tools, and the creative process.
