At NEW VISIONS For Music & Sound, we are dedicated to empowering women and underrepresented genders in the music ecoystem. Therefore, we are very excited that GenderMusicTech will be part of NEW VISIONS For Music & Sound.

GenderMusicTech is a pioneering digital capacity-building initiative for the digital music sector, dedicated to promoting inclusion and diversity.

New contexts, caused by the digital transformation of the music sector pose challenges due to the lack of diversity in digital and technological environments. It's overdue to change this.

This workshop will review tools and resources necessary to empower women and diverse gender people in tech and data-driven digital music environments.

HOW TO BE SUCCESFUL IN A DIGITAL MUSIC ECOSYSTEM?

This workshop offered by GenderMusicTech provides the opportunity to master the skills needed to succeed in the dynamic world of digital music and enhance productivity. It is designed for female and diverse gender music professionals who want to upgrade their digital skills and learn how to navigate different music digital platforms (DSPs). The workshop will help attendees understand how productivity tools and other resources can be leveraged to capitalize on opportunities in the ever-evolving digital world.

Participants will discuss tools and strategies that could be most empowering for women in the music industry. This includes learning how to use digital analytics and data tools to gain insights and make informed decisions. You will also gain an understanding of how to navigate different digital platforms like DSPs and how to use productivity tools that could help women capitalize on opportunities in the evolving digital world.

Providing a safe space to explore these sometimes intimidating digital skills will help you boost confidence and reduce feelings of imposter syndrome. The workshop aims to present these tools and strategies in an engaging way that generates curiosity and excitement about their potential.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

The workshop will take place in a non-mixed space only for females and diverse gender identities. The following profiles are expected to attend the workshop but not limited to the exemplified professional profiles:

  • Authors, Music Singers, Composers, Musicians
  • Music Producers
  • Agents and Managers
  • Small Labels
  • Programmers and Event Promoters
  • Publishers
  • Music Tech companies

Selection Criteria: This workshop has been co-funded by the European Union to promote and upskill female and diverse gender professionals in the music industry. People attending should meet the following requirements:

  • Women and gender diverse people (non-mixed space)
  • Music professionals who want to advance from intermediate to advanced knowledge in digital music promotion and marketing strategy
  • Age and background do not matter, just attending the conference*. We can provide a fee reduction to the conference tickets.
THE WORKSHOP IS LED BY FATIHA BEN BRAHIM


Fatiha Ben Brahim is a highly accomplished executive with over 30 years of international experience in the music industry. Known for her advocacy in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), she collaborates with Digitalfems and serves on the Advisory Council of the Gender MusicTech Project. As Director of Music Enrichment, she has developed expertise in music publishing, recording, content curation, data enrichment, and product launches.

Throughout her career, Fatiha has led successful projects at renowned organizations such as Gracenote/Nielsen, Fintage House, BMG Rights Management, and Music Sales. She has built teams, optimized resources, streamlined workflows, and improved overall efficiency, significantly contributing to organizational growth.

Her innovative thinking, leadership skills, and deep understanding of the music landscape make her a driving force in the industry. Fatiha is dedicated to fostering creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning within her teams.

ABOUT GENDER MUSIC TECH

The GenderMusicTech project strives to generate feminist actions and fosters a more equitable and diverse digital music landscape. The goal of this initiative is to increase the presence of women and individuals with diverse genders in the digital music industry by providing tools and resources for their professional development. These actions include free access to workshops, hackathons, and other digital upskilling opportunities. We are also researching music gender metadata.
